Loopscanner....very interesting with some quirky snapshots. It takes some incubation with this bugger to get a handle on its operation. Seems to have a very crunchy sound and with some of your own loops you can come up with some wild variations. I like the idea of a loopscanner and this offers scanning through 8 loops with convenient loop length and shift parameters for grabbing exactly the portion of the beat you want. The Echo section is also like the scanner - using a seperate table to activate a send for the loopscanner into the echo section. The sampler modules here break a beat after analysis so you can use it at whatever tempo you want...with some compromises. Designed by Didier Leboz Chonndo....static and freaky noise generator. A genuine wierding module. Very Spooky. I like alot. I tried playing but it doesn't do much...I figure its up to me to simply move the mouse over the cartesian interface doing dastardly dances that sometimes look like chewed up sine waves, other times look like rorschach tests made into audio. Levels can be unstable. Might be tempted to put into a big reverb space if it didn't threaten to clip anything you put after it. Its very trippy but without an attempt to translate from its native language, I have no idea what each panel control is supposed to do. Designed by ze Lazyfish. Ps: If you ever use this live, plan out ahead of time what you will use and delete any other snapshots. This thing can blow up on you bad as I found out at NAMM2002. Its the Boinks!! Talk about hysterical...this ensemble has such oddball quirks that you could easily come up with a thousand comedy sounds. Humor aside, boinks has some pretty serious rips and bling blong bwangos! The Random sequencer generates alternating rythms and bizarre percussions that are somehow fed through the giggle matrix. Better watch the output on your system though- this ensemble can produce very sharp and loud transients. Grandmas beware! Designed by Cursorminor Cabcharge by Didier Leboz has a bite and swish to it that is entirely addictive. Add this bass and scrubbie box to your collection of percussive misfits. It squeals, yelps and barks out in perfect time to incoming clock. I will definitely be exploring this dirty little wonder some more. Very appealling. Another synth from Didier Leboz, the Hydrolyt 3 is a remake of the original he submitted in January of 2001. Sparkling and grumpy sounds come out of this very peculiar instrument. Mixed in with some other synth textures, this specialty item could make a trance section really stand out. Are you a user? From the Ensemble notes: Don't let this little machine fool you. It makes great sounds and yes, the swing indeed works. If you are sick of all those bogus programs and ensembles that just have no soul, then spend a few minutes with the little vintage drummer. We are talking no nonsense beats and sequencing with honest to goodness flavor. For some reason this thing actually sounds warm to me. Thank you! Ensemble notes: This Ensemble kicks ass. The snapshots are great, the graphics tasty, and the grooves are delicious. Monster Loop has a little of everything: Pads, bass, drums, a matrix for each instrument and effects including a Flanger, 2band delay and a reverb stage. Once you hear this thing you will want to get up and boogie. Good work Martin and friends! Ensemble notes: And I will love him and pet him and have him all for my very own...This ensemble is gnarly. Load this into your host application and then point this your nearest beats directory for some Cuisinart slicing! Offbeat and odd timings come out like Rrrrroger RabibbiibT. Alot of fun and can make sluicy mixtures out of your drum loops. Ensemble notes: Spooky resynthesized loops, amazing variations, moody drones. Sounds sort of like grain state, but different and more rythmic. The cpu load was not too bad and I could see mixing this into a nice light verb for the last touch...maybe the 6Rev? Also conveniently contains a metronome for syncing up the 4 resynth loops. Beatslicing is one thing...but going granular with the beat is what I am having for lunch today. Like Peanut butter, the RLXP2 is sometimes chunky, sometimes smooth, but guaranteed to stick to the roof your mind. Still licking... Ensemble notes: The Tablatorium hits you immediately with a very spicy swing. The snapshots cover various styles of tabla playing at different tempos and the sounds are very authentic. This ensemble features the patcher which allows for randomization of Tablatorium parameters. I can't wait to load this up in Logic and mix in some more drums...ahhhh. Ensemble notes: Indeed, this instrument is a tad on the psychotic side. Listen to this for a while and anything else will sound 'normal'. FM, Ringmod and distortion and some strange attractors make this a very queer but interesting ensemble. From another planet, this one would go well with Roswell and MonsterLoop. Be sure to check your funds to be certain you have cabcharge to get to the party at the end of the galaxy! I can't get that ringmod outta my head! The Victor is also quite cool- another interesting creation from Didier Leboz, Dubspace. Beautiful pads and very playable for chords and lines...the arpeggiations here are very unpredictable and cantankerous. Check out that mp3 to see what I mean. Victor...brother of Vectoria. Dubspace should make a cousin called Voctor that is an arped vocoder! Totally weird and other worldly. Produces clangorous tones, and pretty melodies. Takes input from the keyboard as well as the drawing screens. Excellent use of the scopes and tables. Is it a game or an instrument? What a trip. I feel like an alien.
